Live Wedding Painting

Have your special day captured in oil paint, a wonderful memory that you will treasure for a lifetime. See the artwork emerge during the wedding reception and receive the completed piece when you return from your honeymoon. Whether I attempt to capture the scene from life as it unfolds in-front of me or I use reference photographs, the finished result will become a piece of family history that can be passed down through generations to come.

Ceremony Moments - £1050+

For this type of scene, I typically will arrive a 1 - 2 hours before the ceremony and set up my easel at the back of the main hall to begin blocking-in the background from life. Once the service starts, I will alternate between continuing to paint the scene from life and taking reference photos for use later. Afterwards, I will typically then relocate to the reception or wedding breakfast area and continue the painting from reference photos and memory into the evening.

However, in the case, that the ceremony location isn’t large enough and/or suitable for me to set up my equipment, I will be stood at the back, ready to capture a specific moment on my phone camera, i.e. vows, first kiss, confetti toss etc. Once the ceremony is over, I will then begin the painting in whichever area is best for you.

In either case, I will tend to paint into and throughout the evening, aiming to start packing up around 9pm generally. However, if needs be I can leave earlier.

Depending on the size you opt for, these scenes tend to have more impressionistic faces, but the likenesses of the bride and groom will still be recognisable.

Composite Scenes - £1050+

Often the best approach is to combine multiple reference photos into a single scene. These shots can be a combination of moments from the ceremony and staged and/or candid shots afterwards as well particular background elements captured from life.

All paintings will likely need to be finished after the wedding in studio and will require a 2 - 3 month lead time. This is to ensure the best quality is achieved and adequate drying time is allowed before applying a protective coat of varnish.

Staged Couple Portraits — £1390+

Alternatively, I can grab the two of you for a quick photoshoot after you’ve tied the knot, where you can have as much (or as little) creative input you desire. I will then show you the shots taken and together we can agree on a reference shot or shots. Afterwards I will then either begin the painting in whatever location works best and paint into the evening.

Due to the lack of guest figures and typically simpler compositions, it tends to allow for a more detailed pair of portraits, especially if you opt for one of the larger sizes.

Reception/Wedding Breakfast Group Scenes - £1050+

For those who want more of a candid general capture of the day without necessarily being center stage, a reception or wedding breakfast scene is ideal. In this case, I will set up where the reception or wedding breakfast will be taking place, likely during the ceremony. I will then be capturing the scene as it unfolds from life, all the while occasionally snapping shots on my phone camera to use as reference later. These figures in these scenes will veer towards the more impressionistic.

Commissioned Paintings (after the event) - £750+

There is also the possibility to commission a wedding portrait from 1 or several wedding photographs. This can be a good option if you would like a more affordable option or I am unable to attend the wedding date.

Testimonials

“Jacob was outstanding in every sense. It was lovely to have him capture and be part of our day and it was such a great touch for him to be such a feature and painting during our dinner. The painting was incredible and a one off treasure that will last forever.”

Selina

“Jacob did such an amazing job on our wedding day, interacted with our guests and even stayed later than planned. This was such a worthwhile addition to our wedding. We absolutely adore the finished painting, and couldn’t recommend Jacob more highly!”

Rebecca

“I was excited to have Jacob painting at our wedding. He was very professional and it was easy to organise how we were going to fit him in with the wedding plans.

Most importantly, his painting is absolutely beautiful. We both feel like he captured our likenesses and the overall painting is soft and romantic. We’re very happy with it.”
